Flow cytometric analysis of DNA ploidy in canine mammary tumors.
DNA ploidy has been determined using flow cytometry in 23 nonmalignant and 34 malignant (primary and metastatic) mammary tumors from 46 dogs. This parameter was compared with clinical stage, histology, and estrogen and progesterone receptor analysis. Twenty-one of 34 cancers (61.8%) from 32 dogs were DNA aneuploid. Aneuploidy was also found in 4 of 23 nonmalignant tumors (17.4%) from 20 dogs. R...
متن کاملFlow cytometric DNA ploidy analysis of ovarian granulosa cell tumors.
The nuclear DNA content of 50 ovarian tumors initially diagnosed as granulosa cell tumors was measured by flow cytometry using paraffin-embedded archival material. The follow-up period of the patients ranged from 4 months to 19 years. Thirty-eight tumors were diploid or near-diploid, while 5 were aneuploid. DNA profiles of 7 tumors could not be evaluated. All 50 tumors were immunohistochemicall...
متن کاملFlow cytometric DNA ploidy analysis of feline mammary tumors.
Flow cytometric DNA analysis was performed on biopsies from 9 nonmalignant and 111 malignant (primary and metastatic) feline mammary lesions. In our series, 46.3% of the primary mammary carcinomas appeared to be aneuploid, whereas all but one benign breast lesion were diploid. The degree of aneuploidy in carcinomas was low, with a relatively high number of primary tumors (12 of 82) displaying h...
متن کاملA flow cytometric method for estimating S-phase duration in plants
The duration of the DNA synthesis stage (S phase) of the cell cycle is fundamental in our understanding of cell cycle kinetics, cell proliferation, and DNA replication timing programs. Most S-phase duration estimates that exist for plants are based on indirect measurements. We present a method for directly estimating S-phase duration by pulse-labeling root tips or actively dividing suspension c...
متن کاملAn efficient and simple CTAB based method for total genomic DNA isolation from low amounts of aquatic plants leaves with a high level of secondary metabolites
An efficient DNA isolation protocol specifically modified to get pure quality DNA required for molecular studieshas been reported in this paper. Some aquatic plants (Potamogeton spp., Ceratophyllum demersum and Myriophyllum spicatum) were used for the study. The protocol developed will be useful in getting high and pure DNA. Instead of using the available DNA extraction kits, this protocol can ...
